Separate the enquiry from an active incident

This guide helps prepare later drywall rebuilding. If water is still escaping, electrical hazards are unresolved or building elements show concerning changes, appropriate professional assistance takes priority. A referral enquiry is not an emergency service or an on-site assessment. Do not open or alter affected elements to obtain better enquiry photographs.

HandMen is a referral service based in Idstein for enquiries including Wiesbaden and the Rhine-Main region. Describe what assistance is already arranged and which task remains outstanding. Looking for an independent contractor for agreed drywall work is separate from damage investigation, drying and other specialist services.

Record observation, cause and extent separately

A visible mark initially records an observation at the surface. It does not establish the entire affected area, the cause or the eventual replacement scope. Note when the change was first noticed and which statements come from a report. Identify recollections and assumptions as such.

The older German gypsum industry association information requires individual assessment and limits its described scope to non-contaminated water. It is not blanket approval to rebuild. The exposure and required investigations must be professionally established for the particular property.

Gather existing records without opening the structure yourself

Existing drawings, previous specifications and construction-stage photographs can help. For a wall or ceiling they may indicate the build-up and documented requirements. If these records are missing, explicitly write “build-up unknown”. A photograph of a finished surface confirms neither the board type nor the layers behind it.

Create a simple location reference: room name, affected side and position on the plan. Add existing overview and detail photographs where these can be obtained without entering unsafe areas. A series of images should not imply that concealed areas have been investigated.

Record the decision before closing the area

For subsequent work, it must be clear who assesses the intended work area and on what basis work can proceed. Ask for understandable documentation of the required checks and their findings. A verbal statement such as “it looks fine again” does not automatically describe every prerequisite for the next commission.

Leave decisions on retention, replacement and further measures to the appointed professionals. This article gives no cutting line, waiting period, equipment setting or universal measurement threshold. Different building elements and tasks cannot be approved through a single rule of thumb. Outstanding points belong in the coordination process, not behind the new surface.

Describe rebuilding as a separate scope

A rebuilding quotation should identify the confirmed area, intended services and interfaces with other commissions. Record which prior tasks are expected to be complete and which documents will be handed over. “Restore the wall” leaves too many questions unresolved.

Also discuss which documented functions of the existing system must be considered and who specifies the appropriate execution. New visible boards alone do not prove restored protective performance. Agree surface preparation separately from subsequent coatings; general painting work is not presented here as universally exempt from German trade requirements.

Plan the handovers between participants

When investigation, drying, drywall and subsequent surface work involve different participants, each handover needs a named contact. Ask what information the next contractor requires and who communicates a change. A calendar appointment should not replace an outstanding professional prerequisite.

Rigips emphasises site conditions before delivery and processing. For your planning, the executing contractor should check conditions for the particular work. A general manufacturer page cannot establish a universal rebuilding date.

Keep changes in the coordination process traceable

If a professional assessment changes the intended area, update the sketch and scope together. An old photograph accompanied by a new verbal explanation can be misunderstood. Identify the current version and record which earlier assumption has been replaced.

This documentation organises cooperation. It does not determine the cause of damage, insurance coverage, liability or safe room occupancy. Those questions belong with the appropriate professionals and contracting parties. A tidy room or freshly painted surface does not replace the required assessment.

Send a clearly bounded referral enquiry

For an initial enquiry, provide the location, a short description of what has already been established, available records and the service still required. Clearly identify outstanding assessments. Ask specifically for a contractor for the intended drywall scope rather than assuming all damage-related services form a confirmed package.

HandMen performs no construction work and gives no technical approval. Before personal contact details are shared, the specific independent partner is named and your separate consent obtained. You agree the inspection, quotation, contract, execution, invoice and payment directly with the selected contractor. HandMen remains responsible for its own referral tasks.
