Describe the work area together with daily living needs
For proposed drywall work in occupied rooms in Wiesbaden and the surrounding area, HandMen provides online marketing and enquiry referral to independent contractors. Identify the actual task: a non-load-bearing partition, wall lining, ceiling or attic slope. Agree directly with the responsible company whether occupants can remain in the home during particular stages.
Sketch the work surface, adjacent rooms, doors and route from the entrance. Which rooms do you need daily, when are you at home and who gives access? Include pets and particular organisational needs. A proposed work date does not promise that the affected area will be usable again that evening.
Assign furniture, belongings and surface protection
List what needs removal, moving or protection in place. Small personal belongings, documents and loose decorative items can be organised in advance. For heavy, fixed or delicate objects, explicitly agree who moves and returns them. Dismantling fitted items or connections is a separate task.
Record existing floors, doors and furniture with overview photographs. Have the contractor select suitable protection and assess its compatibility with the surfaces. A dust sheet over furniture does not describe complete control of dust in the work area. Also agree removal of coverings and subsequent cleaning.
For separately needed carrying help, you can contact Umzughilfen, another marketing and referral project of Alona Yanchenko in Idstein. The independent partner confirms scope, access and availability; you contract directly with it for carrying work.
| Area | Record existing conditions and needs | Agree responsibility directly |
|---|---|---|
| Personal belongings | Documents, electronics and loose decoration | Who clears them, to where and by when? |
| Large furniture | Dimensions, weight, fixings and remaining space | Who assesses and handles moving and returning it? |
| Floors and surfaces | Coverings, doors, furniture and existing damage | Who selects, installs and removes suitable protection? |
| Transport route | Entrance, doors, stairs, lift and narrow points | Who confirms a usable route and keeps it clear? |
| Shared areas | Stairwell, hall and shared entrances | Who coordinates use, protection and cleaning? |
| Rooms remaining in use | Required rooms, times and access needs | Who clarifies separation, restrictions and later use? |
Have access, delivery and storage confirmed beforehand
Provide the storey, lift, door openings, known access restrictions and proposed unloading location. Photographs and approximate dimensions support the enquiry. The provider confirms whether materials, equipment and work positions suit the access. Assign delivery and key handover; an enquiry does not reserve a delivery slot.
Rigips emphasises coordinated delivery, dry storage, clear circulation routes and assessment of floor loading. An apparently empty space is therefore not a confirmed storage location. Have the appointed company assess quantities, temporary storage and transport before boards are ordered.
Also discuss required power supply, lighting and arrangements for ventilation and cleaning. Changes to connections remain with the appropriately responsible company. Materials or protective arrangements must not block agreed access and required escape routes.
Give the board delivery its own handover record: who receives which items, where does delivery end, and who confirms the storage location? The plasterboard delivery and storage guide helps connect those arrangements to the actual work sequence.
Clarify dust control and unknown old materials before starting
BG BAU identifies tool extraction, construction dust extractors and air cleaning among dust-reduction measures. The contractor determines which measures suit the actual method. Ask about proposed processing, separation from areas remaining in use, and cleaning during and after work.
Agree who installs and monitors protection, how entry is controlled and when occupants may re-enter an area. A sheet, an open window or an available household vacuum does not answer those questions. Do not assume dust-free work or take over the technical selection of protective equipment yourself.
BG BAU's asbestos information highlights building age and known or suspected hazardous materials. Pass available documents to the company doing the work. Have necessary investigation and measures professionally clarified before unknown old layers are drilled, sanded or removed; do not take your own material samples for this purpose.
If the drywall work includes removing an existing partition first, room preparation alone is not enough. Agree wall assessment, services, material investigation and waste acceptance separately; the removal guide provides existing-condition and responsibility worksheets.
Agree work stages rather than one general completion day
Break the discussion into preparation, necessary investigations, any agreed removal, assembly, services, filling and following work. Not every job needs all stages. Record the conditions that must be met before the next appointment and who communicates changes to the companies involved.
Rigips describes how moisture and site climate affect sequencing. The German Gypsum Industry Association lists separate publications on site conditions and surface quality. Have the provider confirm specific product conditions and necessary waiting periods rather than adopting a general drying time.
Distinguish assembled construction, the agreed filled surface, finished decoration and a room prepared for use. Clarify outstanding work, cleaning and possible restrictions at every handover. Returning furniture or using a room depends on the condition actually achieved.
Keep a shared responsibility and appointment worksheet
Add the company, contact, date and unresolved issues to each row. The table supports discussion and comparison of the same scope. It replaces neither risk assessment, technical inspection nor contractual acceptance. When plans change, the responsible companies confirm effects on protection, access and following appointments.
| Topic | Identify responsibility | Record the agreed outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Existing conditions and work scope | Who investigates and confirms the proposed work? | Documents, outstanding questions and agreed scope |
| Clearing and furniture | Who removes, moves and later returns items? | Item list, storage location and dates |
| Surface protection | Who selects, installs, checks and removes it? | Affected surfaces and suitable arrangements |
| Access and materials | Who confirms routes, delivery and storage? | Usable access and coordinated logistics |
| Dust and entry | Who determines and monitors protective measures? | Method, separation, cleaning and entry arrangements |
| Services and concealed details | Who installs and checks them before closure? | Checkpoints, service information and records |
| Surfaces and following work | Who confirms readiness for the next company? | Finish target, outstanding work and following date |
| Use and completion | Who clarifies returning items, cleaning and conditions for use? | Achieved condition, unresolved issues and contacts |
Describe preparation, drywall and other trades separately
IHK Frankfurt describes acoustic and dry construction as system-based assembly of prefabricated components. This does not generally authorise every renovation activity. Annex A of the German Crafts Code lists painting/decorating, electrical and plumbing/heating crafts, among others.
Explicitly include additional painting, electrical alterations, removal and work on existing installations in the scope. Each provider clarifies its suitability and required authorisation for the actual activity. A small area, covering a room or Kleinunternehmer tax status does not establish a blanket exemption for other trades.
Preparation you undertake yourself also needs a concrete agreement: item, result and timing. Simply clearing a room does not confirm the substrate or technical conditions. Appointed specialists determine necessary further assessments and work.
Send an enquiry with a room plan and outstanding questions
Provide Wiesbaden or the actual work location, room and task, proposed occupation during work and preferred dates. Add photographs, access, furniture, existing documents and separately requested preparation tasks. Ask for a quote explicitly assigning protection, cleaning, material logistics and handovers.
HandMen provides online marketing and enquiry referral. Before transferring personal data, we name the specific independent partner and obtain your separate consent. You agree the quote, contract, visit, design, work, invoice and payment directly with that company. HandMen does not set up worksites, install drywall, provide construction supervision or issue technical approval. Availability of a suitable contractor is checked individually.
