What low-emission means
Floor coverings and installation materials can release volatile organic compounds into indoor air. The Blue Angel is a voluntary German environmental label for products that meet the criteria of their specific product group.
It is not a universal approval, an installation instruction or a guarantee of a particular health outcome.
Check the exact product
Do not assume that every product from a certified manufacturer is covered. Verify the exact name, product group, certificate validity and current manufacturer documentation.
Criteria for several Blue Angel product groups, including low-emission flooring, panels and doors, were revised in 2026.
Consider the complete installation system
A certified floor can still be combined with an unsuitable adhesive, primer, levelling compound or underlay. Each component must suit the substrate and the covering.
