Record the opening correctly

Before ordering a door, frame or window, record the opening width and height at several points, wall thickness, finished floor level, opening direction and hinge side.

Final production dimensions must follow the relevant manufacturer system and installation requirements.

Define the required performance

A component must suit more than the opening. Clarify moisture, thermal and acoustic performance, fire or smoke requirements, security, accessibility and connection to existing insulation or sealing layers.

Prepare the installation area

Clear access routes, protect adjacent surfaces and confirm that the substrate is stable, dry and ready. Before fixing non-load-bearing drywall, locate concealed cables, water pipes and other services.

Changes to electrical, water or heating systems must be completed by the responsible specialist contractor before the wall or lining is closed up.

Keep the scope clear

A suitable independent provider may offer installation of standard prefabricated interior doors, frames, windows or non-load-bearing drywall systems after its own assessment. HandMen does not perform the work; structural changes, technical connections and specialist fire-safety planning require appropriately qualified providers.

For pipe boxing and wall linings, the contractors also agree which maintenance points must remain reachable and where suitable access openings belong.

For acoustic objectives, state whether you mean reverberation inside the room or sound transmission between rooms. The home-office worksheet helps separate use, observations and questions about evidence; the responsible contractor assesses the appropriate construction.

For kitchen and bathroom drywall, describe individual use zones, the complete construction and handovers to waterproofing and installation contractors in advance. The moisture-protection checklist collects the relevant questions without treating a room label as evidence of product suitability.

Coordinate installation dates with other contractors

When doors, flooring and drywall depend on one another, record the required measurements, the state of preceding work and responsible contacts in the schedule. Each provider confirms the conditions within its own scope; HandMen does not provide technical clearance.

When changing the floor, coordinate the finished levels on both sides of the doorway with the door before ordering. The floor-height worksheet helps record layers, door movement and the transition together.
